Why is the timeframe so short?

If the plans have been drawn up by developers, and land has been provisionally obtained, why have we not been told about this until three weeks prior to a decision being madeby the government? It appears that local people are being railroaded into once again having North Yorkshire Council decide that anything they don't like - dump it on us!!!

Timetable for new Eco-towns

Post  Admin on Mon Jan 21, 2008 11:59 am

Proposed New Town, Eggborough/Kellington/Kellingley
Below is the timetable to decision that we have been given – as you can see it is extremely short. The Government want ten of them. We do not know if, when Hazel Blears makes her announcement, in a few weeks time, whether she will name the final ten or will reduce the current fifty or so applicants to say twenty for further consultation.
If Parish Councils wish to have a say before the DCLG prepare their recommendation that we will have act quickly.

John and Mary McCartney - Selby District Councillors, Eggborough Ward. 01977 662558

Timetable
Department of Communities and Local Government officials will prepare their recommendations for the Minister by end of January
The Minister, Hazel Blears, will announce her intentions in the Middle of February
A consultation period will follow (current intention)
Final announcement June/July
